They are already here! Night herons are returning from wintering grounds

Naturalists from the Upper Silesian Ornithological Association report that the first night herons appeared in the colonies in the Silesian Voivodeship with the arrival of spring.

According to the information published on the website www.ornitho.pl, the first bird was observed on March 20, 2019 in Ochaby. Mateusz Ledwoni from the Upper Silesian Ornithological Circle on Sunday, March 24 this year was able to see two more in Harmęże. The birds sat in the colony and cleaned their plumage. In the following days, ornithologists expect the arrival of more specimens.

Then the night herons will begin to develop and build nests. The first nest eggs will appear in April.
