The execution of the LIFE.VISTULA.pl project brings many opportunities to observe the daily life of night herons. Many of them can be recorded using camera traps. Here is the first of three videos prepared by the Upper Silesian Ornithological Circle.
The food of night herons is amphibians, fish and insects that they capture while wading or hiding in shallow water. They also eat crustaceans, lizards, small mammals, grass snakes, snails, spiders, leeches and small birds. Young birds are fed food that is half digested and regurgitated by adults.
